Halloween Parade in NYC 2014

On Halloween night, Dan and I joined thousands of other costume-clad spectators to watch the New York City 41st annual Village Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village, and it was an experience for the books! A few of our NYC friends warned us about Halloween in NYC and described it as “crazy” and “one massive party.” But we weren’t expecting it to be quite that awesome! The Parade typically involves 50,000 to 60,000 costumed marchers each year and starts on Sixth Ave and Canal Street at 7Pm and doesn’t end until about 11PM. The theme of this year’s Parade, led by Grand Marshal Whoopi Goldberg, was “The Garden of Earthly Delights” and it did not disappoint. Here are a few pictures and a video of at least 200 marchers doing the Thriller Dance(!), if you’d like to see…

And now for our costumes: Dan was an old lady and I was the Morton Salt Girl. Not bad for two costumes thrown together just hours before we went out!

(I changed into jeans and comfortable shoes to go to the Parade, but this was my original costume.)

PS. Check out this funny video of Dan walking through the subway.
